About the Role

Join our team as an Accounting Officer and play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and sustainability of Mqhele Yezizwe Foundation. As an experienced accounting professional, you will oversee financial management, maintain compliance with laws and regulations, and provide financial guidance to support our mission-driven work.

The Accounting Officer will be responsible for managing the financial operations of Mqhele Yezizwe Foundation, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with laws and regulations, and preparing annual financial statements. This role provides financial guidance, manages internal controls, and liaises with external auditors to ensure the organization's financial integrity and sustainability.

Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


• Oversee financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including annual financial statements.

• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations, including tax and accounting standards.

• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.

• Manage internal controls, including financial risk management and cash flow management.

• Liaise with external auditors, ensuring smooth audit processes and implementing audit recommendations.

• Provide financial guidance and support to management and staff.

• Analyze financial data and provide insights to inform strategic decision-making.

• Manage financial systems and ensure data integrity.


SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Professional certification (e.g. CA, ACCA, CIMA) or relevant experience is advantageous.

• 1-3 years of experience in financial management

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and regulations

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proficiency in financial management software (e.g. Pastel, QuickBooks)
